Events underlined aid challenges, role of private sector in effort to meet global poverty targets

UNDP links and coordinates global and national efforts to decrease poverty by 2015, as part of the worldwide campaign known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

In its role as scorekeeper for the Goals, UNDP organized a week-long series of activities in support of the 25 September High-Level Event on the MDGs convened by the UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN General Assembly where world leaders reviewed progress and translated their commitments into concrete actions, resources and mechanisms to bridge the gaps.
