UNDP Administrator's statement on the Congo plane crash

I was deeply saddened to learn of the plane crash yesterday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo which claimed the lives of 17 people. Among the fatalities are five UNDP staff members and two from the UN Office of Coordination Humanitarian Affairs.

Words fail one when such terrible events strike. The colleagues we lost and those that disappeared with them will always remain in our hearts.

I extend my sincere condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in the service of the United Nations. We all deeply appreciate their dedication and commitment to serving the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
