featuring football legend Zinédine Zidane encouraging governments and citizens to reach the 8 Millennium Development Goals
by 2015. The ad is being released to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty as well as the three
days of mobilization organized by the Stand-Up Campaign, 16-18 October 2009. The text of the ad is below: WILLPOWER,
COMMITMENT, TEAMWORK Lifting 1.4 billion people from extreme poverty by 2015 and assuring each and everyone access to education and health are the new challenges that Zinédine intends to take up by encouraging governments and citizens to achieve the 8 Millennium Development Goals. As a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, Zinédine Zidane encourages you to join his team and take action against poverty now. *** Zidane’s new advertisement is the latest in a series featuring UNDP Goodwill Ambassadors. Fellow football player Didier Drogba was featured in an advertisement in July to garner support for achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Africa, and a climate change advertisement with tennis player Maria Sharapova called attention to the “Seal the Deal” campaign.
