18 November 2009 UN, partners launch $13 million appeal for El Salvador flood victims The United Nations and its partners launched a Flash Appeal for El Salvador to provide immediate aid for six months to 75,000 victims of Hurricane Ida, covering food, shelter, water and sanitation, education, agriculture and early recovery. 18 November 2009 Kenyans, Moroccan receive top awards for Africa photo contest The winning photographs of a contest organized by UNDP feature environmentalists planting trees in a water catchment area in Kenya, Moroccan women turning plastic bags into handbags as part of a fair trade project, and a Kenyan couple planting a tree on their wedding day. 17 November 2009 Crown Prince Haakon completes Botswana trip UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Crown Prince Haakon of Norway has completed a three-day visit of Botswana where he met with officials, addressed students on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and visited a biodiversity project. 17 November 2009 UNDP awards Sharapova scholarships in Belarus UNDP marked International Students Day by awarding five-year university scholarships to three students in Belarus.
