The United Nations spokesperson in Afghanistan Adrian Edwards, has confirmed that six UN staff members were killed this morning during an attack at a guesthouse in Kabul. Other UN staff members were injured.

UNDP responds to the Asia Pacific disasters

The Asia Pacific region has been struck by a series of multiple disasters that have killed more than 1,500 people, and affected upwards of 7 million others. UNDP, along with other UN agencies, reacted quickly, immediately deploying crisis management teams to support governments in the aftermath.

Clark meets with Thai officials; visits UNDP-supported project

UNDP Administrator Helen Clark met with Thailand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kasi Piromya in Bangkok. She also visited a project aimed at improving the livelihoods of local fishermen by increasing the population of blue swimmer crabs.

Fish making a comeback thanks to Cambodians’ conservation efforts

Villagers were spurred into action by concerns that an out-of-control catch long practiced by their fellow residents was threatening to wipe out fish species from the lake. Their efforts have now paid off.
