12 November 2009 UNDP works to rebuild peace, fellowship amongst youth in Sri Lanka A small Tamil community was in the news for a slightly unusual reason: it was hosting Sinhalese school children and teachers from the Matara district in southern Sri Lanka for a sporting event. 04 November 2009 UNDP boosts recovery in earthquake-hit Padang UNDP boosted its recovery support in Indonesia this week, bringing in more heavy equipment to remove badly damaged homes, schools, mosques, and by fielding experts to work alongside government to reduce the impact of future earthquakes. 07 October 2009 Clark meets with Thai officials; visits UNDP-supported project UNDP Administrator Helen Clark met with Thailand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kasi Piromya in Bangkok. She also visited a project aimed at improving the livelihoods of local fishermen by increasing the population of blue swimmer crabs. 05 October 2009 Fish making a comeback thanks to Cambodians’ conservation efforts Villagers were spurred into action by concerns that an out-of-control catch long practiced by their fellow residents was threatening to wipe out fish species from the lake.
