A New Agenda for Mainstreaming HIV in Low-Prevalence Settings

From 4-6 November 2008, UNDP sponsored a Global Peer-Review Experts Meeting on HIV Mainstreaming in Low-Prevalence Settings. The Delhi-based meeting convened a small group of practitioners, researchers and policymakers to identify effective, multisectoral HIV responses for key populations in low-prevalence settings and to determine the extent to which mainstreaming is useful in enhancing the effectiveness of those responses. Meeting participants affirmed the importance of mainstreaming in low-prevalence settings and emphasized the need for strategic and results-driven approaches. The discussions and outcomes from the meeting will inform a UNDP policy brief and toolkit to guide future programming.
